The first-ever Red Bull Double Down brought BMX and mountain biking together in a wild team format at Bentonville Bike Fest 2026, and the debut did not disappoint.
In front of a 5,000-strong crowd, Brady Baker and Nicholi Rogatkin threw down the winning combination of timing, amplitude, and straight-up guts to claim the inaugural title. The American duo edged out “Team Australia,” featuring Ryan “R. Willy” Williams and Jaie Toohey, by a single point.
The format was fresh: teams of two, one BMX rider and one MTB rider, taking four runs on a massive dirt setup with 30-foot roll-in towers and a 35-foot dirt jump. The first two runs were scored on synchronization. The final two were all about Best Trick. That meant riders had to do more than just send it. They had to match timing, manage speed differences between BMX and mountain bikes, and still bring the kind of bangers that make a crowd lose its mind.
Baker and Rogatkin found their rhythm early. They won Saturday’s windy qualifying session, then backed it up in the finals with the strongest combined score of the weekend. Baker also landed a 720 front flip on dirt, a personal milestone that made the win feel even bigger.
“Team Australia” nearly stole the show. Williams, making his first-ever MTB contest appearance, landed his first double front flip on a mountain bike and dedicated the performance to his friend Oliver Tree, who died Sunday morning in a helicopter collision in Brazil.
The podium was stacked with international talent, with Gabriel Chaves and Lennox Zimmerman charging into third. The event also showed serious future potential for the women’s side, with Hannah Roberts, Patricia Druwen, and Jordy Scott riding out of competition and proving this format has plenty of room to grow.
If Red Bull Double Down was a test, it passed. Big tricks, new strategy, BMX and MTB sharing the same dirt line, and a finish separated by one point. Bentonville may have just launched the next must-watch freestyle format.
