Following the announcement of his forthcoming solo album From Whence It Came, YUNGMORPHEUS shares the album’s second single today, “Playin’ The Same Game.” The track follows the release of lead single “Layman’s Terms,” which was produced by Junie and accompanied by a two-part Jackie Radinsky-directed video. “Playin’ The Same Game” resembles the sleekest of noir films, shrouded in the cool haze of MORPHEUS’ flow as his inner monologue contemplates his next move with a wry smile.
Additionally, YUNGMORPHEUS will be joining frequent collaborator Fly Anakin on a co-headlining US tour, kicking off May 31 in Atlanta. The tour will include stops in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Public Records in Brooklyn. Tickets are available below.

From Whence It Came features a range of guests, including Fly Anakin, Jimetta Rose, MED, and more, and showcases MORPHEUS’ conversational and smooth flow over a variety of beats, from West Coast G-funk to hurried drum-n-bass rhythms and soul samples. It’s a testament to his versatility as a lyricist and the ease that defines his approach to production, not bending away from his quintessential style.
MORPHEUS solidified his place as a prolific artist in the burgeoning underground rap scene with the release of last year’s EP Burnished Sums, which featured multiple producers like Ezra Collective’s Joe Armon-Jones, Creme and DMH, and several tracks produced by MORPHEUS himself. The EP included the tracks “Distant Place,” “Figure-Four Leg Lock,” and “Sonny’s Triangle,” and was followed by three other full-length collaborative projects, including Up Against the Wall with THERAVADA, Slang Casino with Obijuan, and Bag Talk Deluxe with Pink Siifu.
