Three bands. Three different routes into the same record collection. Weezer, The Shins and Silversun Pickups are bringing The Gathering to San Diego, giving alternative-music fans a Wednesday night worth clearing the calendar for.

The show takes place Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at Viejas Arena on the San Diego State University campus. Doors open at 6 p.m., with a scheduled 7 p.m. start.

Why This Bill Deserves Your Attention

For Revolt readers, the appeal is the range within the lineup. Weezer's guitar-pop hooks, The Shins' winding melodies and Silversun Pickups' layers of distortion offer three distinct reasons to get through the doors early.

There is room here for the fan who wants a big chorus and the listener who wants to disappear into the guitars. Our reason to go is hearing those approaches share a room. Treat the whole bill as the event.

Silversun Pickups' official tour listing confirms the San Diego date with Weezer and The Shins.

Three Tracks for the Ride Over

Need a starting point before heading to campus? Queue up Weezer's "Island in the Sun," The Shins' "New Slang," and Silversun Pickups' "Lazy Eye."

Listen for the contrast: the easygoing hook, the quieter melodic pull, then the gradual build into a wall of guitars. These are our pre-show listening picks, not a confirmed setlist.

Plan Your Night Before You Leave

Viejas Arena has posted a campus-construction advisory warning of delays when exiting onto Canyon Crest Drive. Allow extra time and review the venue's official event information for parking and transit links.

The arena is cashless and operates a clear-bag policy. Backpacks are not allowed. Check the current bag dimensions and permitted-item rules before packing for the night.

Use the venue's official ticket link for current prices and availability. Individual band set times are not listed on the event page; the published 7 p.m. time is the scheduled show start.
