MARK LANGFORD DROPS NEW SINGLE ‘SUMMER DAZE’
New All-Star Single Featuring John Avila (Oingo Boingo), Johnny Vernazza (Elvin Bishop), Greg Douglass (Steve Miller) and Larry Grano (Richie Furay)
Acclaimed guitarist Mark Langford releases a new single, “Summer Daze,” featuring an all-star band, including bassist / producer John Avila (Oingo Boingo), guitarists Johnny Vernazza (Elvin Bishop Group) and Greg Douglass (Steve Miller Band / Greg Kihn Band), alongside drummer Larry Grano (Richie Furay / Back to the Garden).
Langford is perhaps best known for his classical/ flamenco and acoustic material, opening shows for the likes of Eagles and Micheal Bublé, but he is also a virtuoso in rock, pop and heavy metal, with a career that has seen him performing on major stages since the 1980’s. “Summer Daze,” is the culmination of that lifetime in music, and is the opening salvo in a string of upcoming releases for Langford that includes both new and archival material. Amongst the upcoming highlights is a new album, his first in more than two decades, of classic Irish poetry set to Langford’s music.
“I’m really proud of the new single, and the upcoming album as well. But I have to say that performing live is still the biggest thrill for me,” he remarked. “I’m looking forward to bringing these great new songs to a venue near you.”
The new single came about during sessions for that forthcoming release. “I’ve recorded a lot of music, but this one is special,” said Langford. “During the recording of the album, I brought in a new song, “Summer Daze,” and we just went for it. It’s separate from our other project, and I really wanted it to be organic, so I thought it best to strike while the iron was hot. I quickly mapped it out for everyone. We recorded it in one take, no rehearsal. We knew right away we really had something here. These are all amazing players, and with John’s stellar production, I really feel we captured some magic with this recording.” The perfect soundtrack to late summer days, fans of latter-day Pete Townshend or Van Morrison will find much to appreciate on the track.
