10TH MCMORRIS GOLD AT 2022 WINTER X GAMES

Tenth McMorris gold takes centre stage at 2022 Winter X Games

Canadian Mark McMorris won his 10th Winter X Games gold and broke Shaun White’s record of slopestyle golds to take centre stage in Aspen and add to the gold rush from Tess Ledeux, Marcus Kleveland, Kelly Sildaru, Scotty James and Nico Porteous in Buttermilk as they all continue their Beijing preparations.

On Sunday, Porteous triumphed when he unveiled back-to-back 1620s to retain his Ski SuperPipe title from Aaron Blunck and David Wise with Canadian Noah Bowman fourth and American Birk Irving fifth.

Kiwi Porteous, 20, told the Aspen Times: “I really wanted to do that switch 14, and it didn’t quite go the way I wanted it to first run. I switched up the plan and messed it up on the third run, but to come back and do it all for the first time on the fourth, that’s what dreams are made of.”

American pair Mac Forehand and Nick Goepper finished fourth and eighth in the Men’s Ski Slopestyle behind Swiss winner Andri Ragettli with Austrian Matěj Švancer sixth in the Ski Knuckle Huck.
