THE BELLY UP WELCOMES TIM FLANNERY AND JACK TEMPCHIN
Tim Flannery and Jack Tempchin To Make Special Belly Up Appearance
The Belly Up will welcome back Tim Flannery next week on September 26th for a special live KPBS Taping that will air on the KPBS television Series “Live at the Belly Up.”
This will mark the first taping of the series for 2023, which will feature a handful of select shows from this year that will air in 2024.
Most recognize Tim Flannery’s name and think of the long-time baseball player for the San Diego Padres who spent his entire playing career in San Diego and later became a coach for both the Padres and San Francisco Giants. However, he is also a well-traveled musician with his band The Lunatic Fringe.
Flannery released five albums of his original music between 1997 and 2002, when he left the Padres organization. He writes songs about his family roots, love, and the surrender that comes when you understand some things are out of your control. He also writes about baseball and being on the road, the call of the highway, and the beacon of home. He and his band bring his songs roaring to life in various musical genres like bluegrass, country, and rock.
Opening for Flannery will be special guest Jack Tempchin.
Tempchin, who is a legendary songwriter, has written numerous hit songs for The Eagles including “Peaceful Easy Feeling”, “Already Gone”, and others.
Tempchin’s songs have been performed or recorded by several artists, including George Jones, Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt, and many more. Tempchin was also inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame in 2019.
